Treatment #1 (of 38) complete!

Today Matt had his first radiation treatment, whou - hoo. It went really fast as they said it would....Matt says he did feel a little something right after for an hour or so (a tingling and pressure in the back of his throat) but all is normal right now. The mask was tight and felt a little weird but not too bad. Only 37 treatments to go. Also saw oncologist - more about that (and photos of course) tomorrow. We are tired.

  1. Hi Matt & Cathy. Rob Turrie (friend of Coralee's)here in Portland, OR. As Cora probably told you, I was dignosed and went through treatment for tonsillar cancer that is very similar to what Matt has just begun. I too ultimately chose the chemo add-on and the bad news is the side effects suck and Matt is in for a battle. The GOOD news, however, is that on February 12th, it will be 6 years since my diagnosis and I'm still here going strong!! I believe you're meeting with Deb this weekend to get her side of the story but PLEASE feel free to call me anytime to ask questions or discuss certain things that Matt is feeling. Btw, tell him that first day fatigue is just the result of all of the mental stress associated with the fear of the unknown. The physical fatigue will come later. Hang in there!
